The article provides a scientific and pedagogical analysis of the criterion-based educational foundations for developing and assessing technological-operational competence in future engineers. Based on the interrelation between technological and operational activities, this competence is interpreted as an integrative professional quality comprising motivational-value, cognitive, operational-technological, diagnostic-operational, and reflective-evaluative components. The didactic potential of problem-based learning, project-based learning, laboratory and practical activities, digital modeling, industrial practice, and reflective assessment for developing technological- operational competence is substantiated. The proposed criterion-based diagnostic system can be used for comprehensive assessment of professional training outcomes in technical higher education.##plugins.themes.default.displayStats.downloads##
